As each day brings more anecdotal and research-based data about the continually evolving COVID event, we are also seeing increasing reports of lingering effects that don’t resolve after the initial illness has dissipated. In this second installment of our multi-part long COVID series, we’ll take a closer look at this complex issue and the myriad of issues many patients now face even months post infection.
More than 18 months since COVID-19 was first globally identified, scientists and practitioners in many areas of the medical field are continuing to encounter new insights about this pandemic event. As additional data becomes available, two major things are clear: one, our understanding about the virus is continually evolving and the situation will undoubtedly remain very fluid for some time. And two, the post-infection period does not always resolve within a short or even reasonable amount of time.
